2019 Fall Pub League - Week 4

Oct. 15, 2019 • Andrew Maron

It’s finally starting to feel like Fall in Charleston. Halloween decorations are up and the oppressive summer heat is on its way out. ‘Tis pleasant hurling weather, indeed.

Team Daps and Team Wilson & Johnson assembled on a sunny Sunday morning, October 13th for Week 4 of Fall Pub League. Both teams had seven players in attendance, so a game of 7s was played.

Team Daps came out strong, putting the first few points on the board. However, Team W&J quickly equalized, scoring four goals and pulling ahead with a five-point lead going into halftime. Both teams fought hard in the second half, showing real skill in getting the ball up the field and into space.

Fresh off an injury and playing in her first match of the season, Caitlyn Lees made excellent runs into space as full forward for Team W&J and capitalized on precise puckouts from goalie Ryan Finn to score two goals and her first point in a Pub League match. Paul Moore played strong defense for Team Daps, breaking up several plays and sending the sliotar downfield with great vision. It was not enough, though, as Team W&J narrowly won the second half by 3 points and sealed their victory for Week 4.

Caitlyn Lees earned this week’s MVP for her impressive offensive return cleaning up every sliotar in front of goal. Congrats Caitlyn!

Final score: Team Wilson & Johnson 10-12 (42) to Team Daps 7-13 (34)
