May. 5, 2025 • Patrick Chaussard
On April 12th Charleston GAA hosted multiple clubs from the Southeast Region for the 12th annual Holy City Cup. The club opened the day with a disappointing 1 point loss to Pooler and finished group play with a defeat to Greenville. The McGrath Law Firm Group finished with Greenville on top, Pooler second and Charleston in 3rd. In the Trikekepro Group, Red Wolves finished 1st followed by Augusta and Raleigh. In between hurling matches a group of Gaelic Footballers from Winston-Salem and Charleston put on a football demonstration as the Charleston GAA continues to build its football program.
In the fifth place game Raleigh defeated Charleston in a hard fought match. The semi finals saw Red Wolves defeat Pooler and Augusta defeat Greenville. This set up a rematch of the opening match of the day in which Red Wolves had won over Augusta. Augusta was able to reverse the result with a strong second half to defeat Red Wolves and claim their first ever Holy City Cup!
