2016 Fall League Week 1

Sunday, September 25th marked the start of the Charleston Hurling Club’s third annual fall pub league. Thanks to established club members and several newcomers, the club was able to form three teams again this year: McCann’s, Recovery Room, and Seanachaí. All three teams, made up of veteran hurlers, recent recruits, and visitors in town for the weekend, played amazingly well this week despite the heat and slightly muddy field conditions.

DDRE holds on to win regular season; Championship fixture set

Cool temperatures and clouds failed to put a damper on Charleston hurling this past Sunday, November 9th. Week 6 marked the last day of the regular season for our fall league. As always, it was an eventful day that exhibited just how hard each and every player has worked to improve and sharpen their skills.

Digico seeks top spot; DDRE remains on top

October 26th was another action-packed Sunday as Charleston Hurling commenced its fourth week of fall league play.

Team Recovery Room played the double header this week, facing Team Darragh Doran Real Estate in the day's first match. While the first time these teams met ended in a draw, the second was a win for DDRE, which resulted in a high-scoring game for both sides. Both teams battled hard this week, and at the half, the score read DDRE 3-5 (14) v. Rec Room 2-4 (10). With just a four-point difference, Rec Room hoped to catch up and surpass DDRE after the break, but while they managed to keep up on the points side, DDRE's goals pushed the team well ahead.

DDRE takes the lead in the standings after Week 3

It was a gorgeous day for hurling on Sunday, October 19th, which marked week three of Charleston's fall hurling league. We saw some great play on the field from both experienced and new players.

This week, Digico took on Recovery Room for the first match of their double header. Though Rec Room was missing a few of its usual members, they held their own with the majority of the team being comprised of new players. Both defensive sides were on guard during the first half, and Rec Room managed to keep the more experienced Digico players at bay for a time. Digico led at the half by just one goal. The halftime score: Digico 3-5 (14) v. Rec Room 2-5 (11). Despite Rec Room's continued efforts in the second half, experience prevailed and Digico dominated.
